Adventurous and artistic travel fine art photography

Photos with a unique story - one analogue frame at a time

Seitlinger - Carrying all my gear by myself, also for long distances

Why are my photography projects so unique?

In my photographic projects I focus on traveling in an adventurous style, for example with my bicycle and my own feet. Carrying all my gear by myself, also for long distances, I am traveling unsupported. With this background each photo will tell his own story of creation and how to get to the place where I made it.

Linhof Technorama 617 Seitlinger

Why shooting analog and
in epic panoramic format?

I shoot primarily on black and white negative film with a Linhof Technorama 6x17 (617) panoramic camera. Because of this panoramic photography my work is immense rich in detail and will be darkroom printed from the negativ on photographic paper or digital under acrylic glass, both in monumental sizes. I call it "Artistic Adventure Photography"

Who is Martin Seitlinger?

Martin Seitlinger is a self taught professional artistic & adventurous photographer based in Salzburg, Austria. He started his professional photography in 2023.

I always spent a lot of my time travelling and and taking pictures, already in photography somehow in a semi-professional way over the last years.

Beginning of 2023 I made a big step for myself, quit my job in the business world and fully concentrated on intensive and extraordinary photography projects as a professional photographer.

I am focusing on slowing down the process of photography with long and unsupported projects where only a few photos are taken. That’s why each of my photos has a unique story of creation.

MONOVISIONS black and white Photography Award 2024, Landscapes (Single) and Landscapes (Series), Honorable Mention

The setup to take a picture with the large-format, analogue panoramic camera is complex, so it is a very slow type of photography. Ultimately completely handcrafted, the photograph, the development of the film negative, to the dark room printing on FineArt Baryta photo paper.

3-4 month work for one photograph

each photo will have an Edition of 1 and is dark room printed in large format

Some words about this photo!

Imagine if you cycle for more than 3000km, carrying all your gear - day after day, kilometer after kilometer - sleeping in a tent during freezing nights, just to create a few photos from Iceland in autumn.
Iceland 2023
Already autumn
I had days where I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, because it was so cold and wet - and after 6 hours on the bike I was totally exhausted. But if I look at the photography afterwards, it's totally worth it!

3395 km on

In order to get photos with a unique adventure story, I cycled alone in 3 month with around 60 kilogram equipment  from Salzburg, via Germany, Denmark and with the ferry to the autumnal Iceland to shoot black and white panoramic photos in already harsh conditions – back again via Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic to Salzburg.  Photography vantage point 1653km one way to the north.

A trip consist out of many small stories, that add up to the adventure!

Project Auvergne, Central Massiv
(May - July 2024)

Cycling to the volcanoes in France - one photograph

Cycling around 2.400 km for one photograph to the Auvergne. I encountered many thunderstorms, had rain about 1/2 of my project and got hit by a car in France – but like Vincent Van Gogh already  said:“ What would life be, if we had no courage to attempt anything“

Adventurous travel fine art photography, a two month project, with about two month preparation -> one photo with a very unique story.

Project Giant Mountains
(Sept. - Oct. 2024)

one photograph

I cycled 570 km one way and 1092 km total to the border between Czech Republic and Poland. On an altitude of around 1400m I took the black and white panoramic photo.

For my photography project „Giant Mountains“ I cycled from Salzburg Austria via Cesky Krumlov always northeast trough the Czech Republic until I reached the Poland border up in the mountains. On my arrival sleet shower and -5 degrees gave me a nice welcome.

Back home I took a  slightly different route with my 52 kilogram equipped bicycle – gear and bike. Already autumn, I had some wet and cold days on my way home.

FAQ

Can i edit the files ?

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard

How heavy is the completed artwork?

The photography has around 4,2 m2.

FineArt Baryta paper (325gsm) around 1,3 kg. Sandwich board around 25kg. Museum Acrylic around 15kg. Wooden frame around 30kg (depends on thickness, wood…)

In total the artwork will weigh without wooden frame around 42kg, and with frame around 70kg.

What is so special about your photography.

My artwork is not the photograph only,  it’s the story behind, the time it took to prepare, the time it took to reach the photography point, the problems I encountered and the adventure I created with blood and sweat.
So, it’s the passion behind this one photograph.

What is the photo mounted on?

The photo paper is finally wet mounted on an Alu sandwich board. The glass to secure the photograph will be Artglass or Muesum acrylic, for the size of my artwork I would suggest Museum Acrylic. One can order the photograph with a handmade wooden frame for the perfect finishing touch, our without frame of course.

What photographic paper is used?

For my artwork I will take fine art baryta paper, this has museum and gallery quality and should last around 100 years.

How can i buy your artwork?

In my current project I invested roughly 4 months for one photograph with an edition of one only.
I will hand over a copy of my journal as well as a little booklet with the course and some photos of the tour I cycled for this photograph.
Shipping inside Europe. Worldwide shipping will have different costs and needs to be calculated, because nearly each country will be different. The additional amount needs to be added. I can also not handle import taxes and duties out of the European Union, I will give support of course, but not covering the costs.
